This link is for a TED talk that addresses how childhood trauma affects health across the lifetime. This video addresses the importance of addressing the trauma and understanding how trauma affects children, their development, and their DNA structure. It shares the significance of trauma and its correlation to 7/10 leading causes of death, and a link for those with almost 20 years less lifespan than others who do not experience similar trauma.

She followed up with talking about how important it is to go to root of the issue, and address the problems, rather than constantly treat the issues that come up later in life. ACES were what she focused on in this study.

I feel this is so important. When looking into a child's life from a young age, and what their environment and system are shaped like it can help to further develop assets to counteract life occurrence, such as those listed within the ACE study.

I feel that this topic: trauma and  ACEs, are so important for child welfare workers, teachers, etc to truly understand. These factors shape a child, physically and biologically. If we used these studies and the knowledge found, we would be able to better work at the prevention and support building to prevent children from growing up and following in the path of poor health as we see correlated with these factors through this study.
