Travel ban separates injured boy from Dad

http://www.10tv.com/article/travel-ban-separates-injured-boy-dad-who-named-his-newborn-trump

This article highlights the effect's of Trump's recent executive order for a family that has been separated from their son because of the ban. The son had serious burn injuries from a refugee camp. An aid group was able to help the infant and his father come to Boston for emergency surgery. Then the dad flew back to be with the child's mother for another baby's birth, but are unable to reunite with their son here for a second surgery because their visas have become revoked.

This angers me because this executive order has stranded this poor baby's family in Iraq when they should be here supporting their son who has experienced extreme trauma and in extreme need of surgery. He has a surgery scheduled for the 5th of this month and I think this executive order not only impacts this family but has and will continue to impact more families by splitting them apart. In terms of a baby's development, resilience is built with proper care and support. With this baby split from his parents, this can cause further trauma which could hinder his development. Social workers should advocate for families such as them to at least get special waivers to be with their families if they have been split apart.
